General Assembly of the CRBs of the plant pillar 2022

From May 30 to June 1, 40 colleagues from the BRCs of the AgroBRC plant pillar (BRC4Plants) met at the Angers site. The opportunity to exchange news and on common topics such as ABS or the economic model. After 2 annual meetings spent in Visio, the days were rich of many informal exchanges and convivial moments.

AAfter a welcome with the President of the center (Emmanuelle Chevassus-Lozza INRAE) and the DU of the IRHS (Marie-Agnès Jacques INRAE) who located the 3 local plants CRB in the scientific programs of the UMR and the priorities of the center, the program allowed an exchange on the news and assessment of the pillar and AgroBRC.

Several presentations dealt with topics related to the management of collections and research projects involving BRC genetic resources:

  • Economic model and pricing
  • Heritage collections, orphan species
  • Status of collections
  • Cryotherapy
  • Risk analysis and health aspects
  • ABS audit and methods, European register
  • Research with the genetic resources of the BRCs of Angers: apple trees, rose trees, carrots.
  • The opportunity was also taken to share inter-pillar experiences with a presentation of the BRC "Strategic bacterial resources for plant health" of the micro-organisms pillar.

Several visits were made during these two days to discover the Beaucouzé facilities, the rose garden, and the GEVES site in Brion.

As an option following the GA, an interactive workshop allowed to progress with the OLGA database (Franciane Nuissier INRAE).

The discussion at the end of the GA allowed to identify perspectives, actions to be continued within the pillar and ideas for inter-pillar interactions.
