Sixth meeting of the RARe International Scientific Council

On 28 November and 2 December 2025, RARe's International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) met for its sixth session and issued advice and opinions on the current and future strategic directions of the infrastructure and the added value of the services it provides.

RARe's International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) consists of eight scientists from various European and international organisations, whose expertise covers the different areas of focus of RARe..

During this 6th edition of ISAB, the members of the Steering Committee presented: :

  • Changes and highlights in infrastructure,
  • Key points from the 2025 scientific seminar on ‘AI and digital tools for CRBs’
  • Highlights, KPIs and action plan for RARe pillars
  • Review of working groups

The ISAB's opinions contribute to the work of the RARe bodies on scientific issues, questions and orientations. In particular, the ISAB confirmed the legitimacy of the five pillars of RARe, regardless of their size.

ISAB members made several suggestions for the theme of the next scientific seminar, such as the cultural or functional diversity of collections, the mobilisation of collections for adaptation to climate change, and methodological developments to facilitate the use of cryopreservation.

We asked them to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of RARe and to make recommendations on the main challenges that RARe must be prepared to address.
