Support for public policies

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Ecological Transition maintain regular relations with the CRBs, either by being members of their governance bodies or by directly co-financing the conservation of certain biological resource collections as part of public policy. For example, the CRBs in the Environment pillar are involved in developing soil quality indicators for the GIS Sols. Several CRBs in the Plant pillar are recognised as plant genetic resource managers by the Ministry of Agriculture. The CRB “Cryobanque Nationale” in the Animal pillar is responsible for the cryopreservation of animal genetic resources.

The APA Working Group has designated correspondents at MESRI, MAA and MTE for the enforcement of regulations on access to genetic resources. The French Biodiversity Agency, the National Geographic Institute and ADEME are involved in soil resource management (CRB Genosol and CEES in the Environment pillar), while the IFCE public institution is involved in equine resource management (Animal pillar).
